About Us

Tapting is a Sherpa village, which is located to the South-West of Solukhumbu district & boarder to next neighbor district Okhaldung. Where most of the habitant is Sherpa including Magar, Tamang, Dalit, etc. According to the Constitution of Nepal 2015, the Himalayan kingdom as the federal secular parliamentary republic divided into seven provinces and among them Solukhumbu is lying in the province one. Similarly, Solukhumbu is now divided into one municipality with seven rural municipalities, whereas Tapting is V.D.C became Solu Dudhkunda Municipality ward no. 10.

Tapting covers the area of 40.47  sq. Km.  The population is assumed to be 2755  according to Census 2010. Tapting is also renowned for its gorgeous peak that is the Pikey peak, the elevation of Pikey Peak is  4200 meters. Many tourists visit every year to see the panoramic beauty of Everest range from Pikey Peak. One can see all many eight thousand highest peak from Pikey. There you can find many old Buddhist monasteries. one of the oldest monasteries is Jhapre Monastery which is located on the top of the village way to Pikey.

The Pikey Peak

The Pikey peak  (4,068m), is one of the tallest mountains of  Solukhumbu. The name “Pikey” is derived from the Sherpa language. The North Side is Tapting and Gora Khani, backside of  is Goli Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu.
